Walking Authentically

Walking Authentically: My 4 Minutes of Truth

In the next four minutes, I’m not here to give you a résumé. I’m here to give you a glimpse.

A glimpse of what I’ve been through. A glimpse of what it means to walk authentically with your story — not the polished version, but the real one.

It takes great courage to stop being ashamed of your past. I know, because I lived it. I know what it’s like to sit with people who are nothing like me. I know what it’s like to go through the jail system with nothing but faith and water holding me together.

I know what it’s like to face law enforcement and not break. To show resilience when fear would be easier. To choose confidence when shame was knocking at the door.

I don’t share this for pity. I share it because someone in this room needs to know: your past is not your prison. Your story is not your sentence.

I’ve been the girl with Imako teeth, hiding. I’ve been the woman in handcuffs, praying. And I’m the woman standing here today — verified, credentialed, unashamed.

Walking authentically doesn’t mean you have it all figured out. It means you’ve decided your truth is worth telling, even when your voice shakes.

And that, my friends, is real strength.
