The Battle
For those battling substance abuse and mental health struggles, my heart aches for the weight you carry.
Too many are still lost in a system that should be a path to freedom and healing, but often feels like another set of walls. When trauma has a hold, it can make you a prisoner in your own mind — trapped in dark places where hope feels distant and the way out isn’t clear.
I believe real freedom starts when that trauma is finally released. When you can let it go to the heavens, you’re no longer chained to the things that broke you. You’re allowed to be more than what hurt you. You’re allowed to heal.
To anyone still fighting: your illness is not your identity. Your addiction is not your ending. The darkness you’re in is not the whole story. You deserve care that sees you as a whole person, not a case file. You deserve spaces that help you breathe, not systems that bury you.
If you’re reading this and you’re still in it, hold on. Healing isn’t linear, and freedom doesn’t always come quickly. But it does come. You are not forgotten, and you are not beyond repair.
If you need help right now, calling or texting 988 connects you to trained counselors 24/7. You’re worth that call.
