Learning the Right Way

Learning the Right Way

There’s nothing wrong with YouTube tutorials. They’ve helped me fix a sink, braid my hair, and survive a few late-night panic moments.

But there came a time when “how-to” videos weren’t enough. I realized I was patching life together with clips and clicks — never really learning the thing, just copying it.

So I got off the sites. I went back to school. The long way. The right way.

And education did more than teach me a skill. It taught me discipline — showing up when I didn’t feel like it. It taught me obedience — to a process, to deadlines, to the truth that mastery takes time.

Most of all, it taught me to look within.

When you’re in a classroom, when you’re studying, when you’re wrestling with a concept at 2am, you meet yourself. You find your inner strength. You learn to communicate with your own soul, and in that quiet, you connect to God at a higher level. Not religion. Relationship.

That’s where I learned the difference between unhealed trauma and something I could transform. Trauma keeps you reacting. Transformation puts you in the cocoon. It’s dark. It’s tight. But you’re not dying — you’re being remade. And one day, you emerge.

Not a copy. Not a tutorial. A butterfly.

So if you’re stuck in the scroll, wondering why you still feel empty after all the “hacks” — maybe it’s time. Time to invest in the slow, holy work of real education.

Because God doesn’t anoint shortcuts. He anoints the process. And on the other side of discipline is a version of you that YouTube could never teach.
